The
county's principal peace officer is the Greene County Sheriff, who
is elected every four years. The Sheriff and Sheriff's Deputies are
the police force for residents of the unincorporated areas of the
county, and by contract, provide law enforcement for the cities of
Churdan, Dana, Paton and Rippey.
The Sheriff's Office handles all routine and emergency calls for
these areas, and regularly patrols all areas of the county.
Greene County also has an Enhanced 911 telephone service, a
computerized system that allows the Law Enforcement Center’s
dispatcher to know instantly the location from which a 911 call is
placed.
The Sheriff's Office also issues permits to purchase and carry
firearms; provides security for special events in the county and
houses the 8-bed Greene County Jail. |
